Aviation Resource Management

Career Description

It takes dozens of people on the ground to get one jet in the air. In the field of Aviation Resource management, you'll work to make sure everything and everyone is ready for their mission. You'll maintain flight records, validate aircrew safety and physical requirements, monitor daily flight mission data and establish schedules for aircrew training. You'll be a manager of everything Air Force — working with Airmen to make missions run as smoothly as possible.

Career Tasks

  • Perform procedures to sign in and sign out aircrew members for each day's flights
  • Coordinate with aircraft maintenance for the tail number assigned to each flight, with base operations for the status of the airfield and with weather for current weather information
  • Validate that aircrew members have met daily aircraft safety and physical requirements before authorizing them to proceed to their assigned aircraft
  • Maintain daily flight mission data to indicate the takeoff, in-flight and landing status of each flight
  • Assist in establishing schedules for aircrew training and flying schedules
  • Maintain flight records and monitor flying hours of aircrew and aircraft
  • Audit source documents for accuracy and use computer terminals to input flight management data into a computer database

Training

After eight-and-a-half weeks of Basic Military Training, every Airman goes to technical training to learn their career. Here's the basic information about Aviation Resource Management technical training:
