Career Description

Every Airman in the Air Force will eventually require dental care. As an Air Force Periodontist, you'll fill an important role in their overall dental health, and you'll do it almost entirely on your terms. Because in the Air Force, you won't have to wrangle with insurance companies, manage a business or balance books. Your only job will be to provide the best care possible to every patient you see.

Career Tasks

  • Examine, diagnose and treat diseases and destructive processes of hard and soft tissues of teeth
  • Interpret radiographs, evaluate findings and conduct treatment
  • Instruct patients in oral hygiene and dental preventive measures and provide consultation service

Becoming a Direct Commission Officer

To ease your transition into the Air Force, you'll enter a five-week training regimen designed to educate you on the ways of both the military and military healthcare. You'll participate in physical conditioning five days a week, leadership training and classroom studies.
