Utilities System

Career Description

The human body can only go three days without water. Your job is to make sure our Airmen always have the water they need wherever they are. You'll be trained to set up field water purification units and field water distribution systems, as well as how to maintain and repair permanent water facilities. Providing water is just the first step; you'll also ensure every drop is clean, pure and safe to drink.

Career Tasks

  • Operate, maintain and repair water collection, supply and treatment plants and systems and wastewater treatment plants and systems
  • Perform analysis on water and wastewater samples to comply with Environmental Protection Agency guidance
  • Knowledgeable in the operation and setting up of field water purification units, as well as field water distribution systems and wastewater collection and disposal
  • Repair, maintain or replace washers, valve seats, leaking faucets and interior/exterior water/sewer lines and mains
  • Unclog drains, commodes, sinks and traps
  • Proficient in the operation and construction features of backflow prevention devices, natural gas distribution systems and fire suppression systems

Training

After eight-and-a-half weeks of Basic Military Training, every Airman goes to technical training to learn their career. Here's the basic information about Utilities System technical training:
