New Aircraft Keeps Eye on Afghanistan
The US Air Force has a new resource in the war against terror: The MQ-1 Predator. This unmanned aerial vehicle uses camera and sensor technology to provide a watchful eye over Afghanistan while gathering intelligence about possible terrorist activity.
This new aircraft will be integral in assisting ground troops in hostile environments. While the Air Force’s top priority is to maximize the safety of troops, The Predator also saves time and money by cutting down on the number of aircrews and maintenance needed for manned aircrafts.
The demand for Predators has been overwhelming— but not surprising when the benefits of using such advanced technology are taken into consideration. The Predator’s 50-foot wingspan and ability to launch missiles from up to 8,000 miles away make it a force to be reckoned with.
