Katrina strikes. Air Force responds.
Even before Katrina unleashed her damaging winds and destructive flooding on the Gulf Coast, the Air Force had begun launching its response.
In the first days following the storm, the Air Force was assisting in rescue and recovery missions while actively taking care of its own people.
Throughout the days following this tragic disaster, the Air Force has been deeply involved in the relief and rescue efforts in many ways.
