Health Physicist

Health physicists ensure that Air Force operations and workplaces are safe from radiation hazards. You'll make decisions on issues related to environmental, occupational and wartime uses of ionizing (nuclear, radiological) and nonionizing (laser, radar, microwave) radiation. Typical duties involve radiation surveillance, risk assessment, determining regulatory compliance and responding to radiological incidents. Medical health physicists work at major Air Force medical facilities where radiation sources (including x-ray machines, particle accelerators and radioactive materials) are used to diagnose and treat human diseases, ensuring proper and safe working conditions for both patients and medical staff.
