Public health officers apply preventive and public health techniques to reduce and control the incidence of communicable diseases and occupational illnesses in Air Force people both in the United States and overseas. You'll promote public health principles through a variety of methods to include monitoring of disease trends, food safety practices and sanitation levels in public and food service facilities. In this specialty, you'll perform a variety of public health activities while supervising and leading the young men and women of the Air Force. Daily duties could include preventive medicine, communicable disease control, advising commanders on military public health issues, directing food programs and managing contamination control programs.
