Emergency medicine physicians work at the largest Air Force hospitals stateside, treating a varied population from elderly retirees and active-duty Airmen to the families that support them. Clinical practice can range from trauma center to community hospital setting with opportunities for involvement in GME program as teaching faculty.
You'll have the chance to compete for fellowships in toxicology, emergency medical services and critical care. Duties include directing emergency services, disaster planning and providing training to nurses and medics in all aspects of emergency medical treatment. You'll practice leading-edge combat medicine and have the opportunity to provide initial trauma care to our nation's wounded heroes in the deployed setting at theater hospitals. In addition multiple unique opportunities exist for emergency physicians to participate in special operations assignments and emergency physicians are the lead physician for critical care air transport teams.
