Occupational medicine (OM) physicians in the USAF play a key role in maintaining and protecting the workforce that keeps the Air Force flying.
USAF OM physicians work closely with industrial hygienists, public health and safety specialists, health physicists, local leadership, unions, human relations, labor attorneys and fellow non-OM health care providers to deliver excellent occupational health care and preventive services to both civilian and active duty employees. Need to consult with a fellow OM provider, a specialist or labor attorney? Just pick up the phone and call a fellow USAF, Navy or Army specialist at one of several bases or learning centers around the country or out of it for the support you need. The practice is interesting and diverse. Care and preventive programs are provided to workers engaged in operations including health care, aerospace and ground vehicle maintenance, electronics, newly evolving materials, corrosion control, ionizing radiation, pest-management, horticulture, museum restoration, weapons systems, firefighting and law enforcement, and environmental clean up to name a few. Civilian workers are covered by exclusively Federal programs, both OWCP and Longshoreman's Act, with no State OWCP. The Federal Tort Claims Act applies and provides excellent malpractice protection. The USAF provides an exceptional opportunity for a rich OM experience in a supportive environment. PAY CHART
