FUELING WARFIGHTER READINESS THROUGH NUTRITION
Diet Therapy specialists are experts in nutrition and performance. They optimize the nutritional support provided to service members and contribute to overall physical and cognitive readiness. Through personalized dietary education, they help fuel warfighters for peak performance, improving their endurance, strength, and mental acuity. Diet Therapy Specialists also collaborate with other healthcare professionals to develop health strategies that enhance physical fitness, promote rapid recovery, and mitigate the risk of injuries. By fostering a culture of health, wellness, and performance, Diet Therapy Specialists contribute to creating a more resilient and lethal Air Force ready to face the challenges of modern warfare.
- Conduct comprehensive nutritional assessments of patients
- Develop individual dietary plans based on the patient’'s medical conditions
- Educate patients on the importance of nutrition in managing their health conditions
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of patients’' assessments and progress
- Work with physicians, nurses and registered dietitians to ensure the comprehensive care of patients

QUALIFICATIONS SUMMARY

MINIMUM EDUCATION
A High School Senior (age 17 or older)*, High school diploma, a GED, or 15 college semester hours
*High School Students may start their application as early as the end of their junior year.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Knowledge of medical nutrition therapy principles and guidelines
- Understanding of common medical conditions and their dietary management
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients and healthcare professionals
- Ability to interpret medical information, including laboratory results and medical records, in order to develop appropriate dietary plans
- Attention to detail and accuracy in documenting patient information and progress
- Adherence to ethical standards and patient confidentiality regulations
- Completion of 7.5 weeks of Basic Military Training
- Must be at least 17, but has not reached age 42 on the date of enlistment
