The Air Force Tuition Assistance (TA) program is designed to help active duty personnel pursue voluntary, off-duty educational opportunities. Currently, the program pays 100 percent (up to $250 per semester hour or equivalent) of the cost of college tuition with a limit of $4,500 per fiscal year. Courses and degree programs may be academic or technical and can be taken from two- or four-year institutions on base, off base or by correspondence.

Eligible, active duty Airmen can receive up to 36 months of benefits for education and training opportunities outside of the Air Force through the Post-9/11 GI Bill. These benefits may be used for undergraduate and graduate degree programs, vocational and technical training, tutorial assistance, books, supplies and monthly housing. Generally, benefits are payable for 15 years following release from active duty and may be transferred to spouses or dependent children.

A veteran benefit program, the Montgomery GI Bill (MGIB) was created to assist military members in paying for college. Eligible, enlisted Airmen may receive up to 36 months of benefits for education and training opportunities outside of the Air Force. These benefits may be used for degree and certificate programs, flight training, apprenticeship or on-the-job training and correspondence courses. Generally, benefits are payable for 10 years following release from active duty.

The Community College of the Air Force (CCAF) is the only degree-granting institution of higher learning dedicated exclusively to enlisted personnel. It gives enlisted Airmen the opportunity to earn a two-year Associate in Applied Science (AAS) degree that pertains to your Air Force career. The CCAF is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools/Commission on Colleges. For more details, visit the official site.

Education is essential to your success in the Air Force. That’s why we offer a variety of programs to help you reach your true potential.
Enlisted opportunities include technical and on-the-job training while earning college credits toward a degree, as well as options to attend other colleges or universities to earn more-advanced degrees. We provide money for school and several programs designed to help enlisted Airmen obtain a college degree and become Air Force Officers.Officer opportunities include Officer Training School (OTS) and other programs that teach the leadership skills you need to succeed in the Air Force. We offer graduate studies at the Air Force Graduate School for Engineering and Management or local colleges, continued training for your chosen field, money for school, and additional growth opportunities.
Officers in legal or healthcare careers have specialized educational opportunities. For these, we offer robust financial support for Airmen continuing legal or medical training.

The Montgomery GI Bill is a veteran benefit program that assists military members in paying for college. The program offers over $35,000 per student, and Airmen are eligible after completing two years of service. Payments are distributed monthly to students enrolled in college on a part to full time basis. Benefits are usable for up to 10 years after honorable discharge.

Yes. Once you join the Air Force, the Air Force Tuition Assistance program pays tuition costs for college classes you take in your off-duty time. This is not a loan and comes at no cost. Using the Tuition Assistance program will not have any effect on the availability of Post-9/11 GI Bill funds.

Yes. The Air Force has trained Guidance Counselors to assist Airmen in clarifying goals and pursuing educational opportunities. They give advice on academic and vocational programs, testing activities, financial aid, Air Force–specific programs, and available university programs.
