Officer-Specialty FLIGHT SURGEON, GENERAL MEDICAL OFFICER (GMO)
What you’ll do
- Provide medical care for pilots, aircrews and operational personnel
- Monitor and manage the physical effects of flight and extreme environments
- Support injury prevention, fitness and overall readiness
- Advise leaders on aerospace and occupational medicine
- Participate in flight operations and training exercises
- Help develop emergency response and aeromedical evacuation plans

Officer Training School
5.5 weeks

Military Training Location
Maxwell AFB, AL
-
Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree or doctor of osteopathy (DO) degree from an accredited institution

- Completion of at least one year of graduate medical education
- Completion of a primary course in aerospace medicine
- Completion of the Flight and Operational Medicine Program (FOMP)
- Must obtain and maintain a medical license
- Completion of Officer Training School
- Must be at least 18 years old and not have reached your 48th birthday
