What you’ll do
- Pilot aircraft and commands crew
- Provide primary medical care for flyers
- Research aerospace systems to optimize function and safety
- Provide operational issues training to medical service personnel
- Actively mentor aerospace medicine personnel at all levels
- Serve as staff advisor to flying squadron commanders

Officer Training School
5.5 weeks

Military Training Location
Maxwell AFB, AL

A Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree or a doctor of osteopathy (DO) degree from an approved school of medicine or osteopathy

- Successfully complete at least 1 year of graduate medical education in a clinical specialty
- Successfully pass a check ride in a USAF aircraft system as a pilot
- Minimum of 3 years and 500 hours of operational flying experience
- Must be selected by the Pilot-Physician selection board
- Obtain and maintain clinical privileges after completing Graduate Medical Education (GME) training at the first duty station
- A state license to practice medicine
- Completion of Officer Training School
- Must be at least 18 years old and not have reached your 48th birthday.
